What a crazy week it has been. Somewhere between working a full time job and going to school until 10 p.m. Baby Daddy found time to paint the nursery. Of course I didn't make it easy. I thought the first color that he used to painstakinly edge the entire room was too "light white". So J, the patient angel that he is, returned to Lowes and brought home a lovely buttery yellow. And this weekend, our baby's Aunt Emily and Uncle Dave gifted her with a beautiful Pottery Barn crib. They even threw in some elbow grease and helped us set it up. I stood off to the side supervising and wondered how many PhDs it takes to set up a simple crib.
Of course I'll be putting my touches of color in the room. A couple years ago we found a side table with some really funky curves and angles at a yard sale. This week I'll sand it and paint it lavender to complement the crib bedding. Next, I'll assemble the powder-blue console that we'll use as a changing table.
I've been having panic dreams that the baby suddenly comes and we weren't prepared. After our accomplishments this past week, I think I'll be retiring those dreams, at least until I find something else to panic about.
