Happy Spring -- Baby Daddy spoils his girls

Baby Daddy promised me tulips for spring and right on cue, the bulbs he planted last winter bloomed this weekend. I know I'm spoiled, what's a girl to do? I'm not sure how long these will last, but for now I'm enjoying the clusters of pink tulips brightening up our front yard. Thanks B.D.

We're putting the finishing touches on the nursery, which has led to quite a display of our varying levels of creativity. J and I have painted original art for the walls. It's easy to tell which is mine. And here he is this weekend, working with ribbon and painted letters to create a one-of-a-kind piece for the wall above his baby girl's crib. Craft was never my forte so my job is to effusively praise B.D. as he continues to impress me with his skill.

B.D. made time for all his girls this weekend. He and Jackie spent a leisurely afternoon on the backyard swing. She couldn't have been happier.

But Sophie, our big furry Himalayan was not so lucky. B.D. shaved off her fur to minimize shedding before the baby arrives. Poor thing, she usually loves the camera but was too embarrassed to pose. Enjoy one of her pre-shaving photos below

Lips like Angelina -- How she's growm

Look at this girl. At 7.5 months her features are so defined. She's got my bulbous head, Jervon's lips and we're still debating the nose. She weighs 3 pounds 4 ounces now and has a strong heart beat. Since she's run out of room to stretch her legs, there was no way to know how long she is, but my belly measured 30 centimeters. Once again, our ultrasound tech "confirmed" that we're having a girl. I still think there's a slight chance for a surprise a birth.

Here she is at 19 weeks when she still had room to stretch out.

Baby Bump and Beyond -- 7 months Belly

With two months to go, I can't imagine how much bigger I'm going to get.
At 7 months, I'm all belly, boobs and butt. I'm still trying to bring the sexy, but that may just be a figment of my imagination.
I'm saving these photos for future blackmail. Whenever this little lady acts up (and I'm sure she will,) I'll show her how I had to sacrifice my body so she could make her debut.

Baby Loves Buble

The first time I felt our baby move it was early in the 5th month. I was driving home from work one afternoon in great spirits and decided to pop in my throw back "Shabba Ranks" CD. I turned up the volume on high and was jamming to "Mr Loverman" when I felt this rush of bubbles in my tummy.

The following weekend Jervon and I were at his church when the choir gave a soul-stirring performance -- she felt it too and her movements were more pronounced. Maybe she prefers gospel to reggae, I don't know.

To ensure that she comes out of the womb with a good sense of rhythm, I've been careful to expose her to lots of Dominican Calypso music, Bob Marley's reggae tunes and of course, my favorites, Lauryn Hill and Wyclef.

She'll probably be a political junkie like I am because of all the talk radio (yes, Rush Limbaugh included) that she's been forced to listen to.

Last night, my friend Sheron and I caught a fabulous Michael Buble concert at the FedEx forum. Thanks to our boss, we had seats just 5 rows from the stage. I think I caught one of his sweat drops. The talent was unbelievable, from the opening act, Naturally 7 -- an a capella group that uses no instruments but creates the most riveting music -- to Buble's mic-less, music-less finale. Throughout the concert I could feel our Wiggle dancing up a storm. And if anyone was looking at my belly they could have seen that her dance moves were on beat!

I love feeling her movements. As she grows and runs out of room in my tummy, I feel every kick, punch and back flip. Sometimes, in meetings I smile to myself when she moves. It's our private conversation -- a secret that I'm so pleased to share with her.

I'm even more pleased that she shares our love of music -- hence the name of the blog -- babyboogie :)

Snow Day

With Baby Daddy out of town for two weeks, mother nature gave us a little treat in the form of a snow storm.
While I enjoyed seeing the city covered under 6 inches of white powder, I was not too pleased with the power outage and accidents on the roadways. In Memphis, a snow day is a rare treat, two or three a year, so the city basically shuts down when there's any ice on the road.
Jackie loved it! she couldn't get enough of the cold white stuff. Baby and I stayed warm inside.
Enjoy these scenes from our yard. And check back later this week for new baby photos and possibly a really cool video.
